Upon successful completion of this course, each student should be able to:
· Create, interpret, and critique graphical displays of data. (1)*
· Create, interpret, and critique summary statistics for data. (1)
· Critically read the statistics encountered in every day life and in her own discipline. (all; especially 1 and 6)
· Design appropriate methods to gather data for use in applications of statistics(3)
· Analyze data in order to make inferences and predictions; in particular:
o describe and model relationships between quantitative variables (2,10)
o determine relationships between categorical variables (8)
o decide questions about population means and proportions (5,6,7)
o decide when processes are out of control (4,12)
o draw conclusions based on rank data (11)
· Demonstrate an understanding of some of the uses and difficulties of statistics in real life based on personal experience and that of peers (9,13).
